Venetian Plaster is made up of several materials, including marble dust, slaked lime, and water. The marble dust gives the plaster its characteristic shine, while the lime acts as a binder to hold the plaster together. The mixture is applied in thin layers, and each layer is allowed to dry before the next layer is added.

We assess your vision, lighting, and substrate, and guide you through finish options and colour tones. - Surface Preparation
A smooth, primed base is essential. We conduct quality checks on the walls to ensure they are ready for the application of Venetian plaster. If necessary, we engage a plasterer to handle all patching and sanding, as this is not included in our service for preparing uneven walls. We verify that the substrate is suitable and ready for the product, but we can supply a plasterer if required. - Artisan Application
Our applicators build up the surface by hand using specialised stainless-steel trowels and techniques. Each layer is burnished for the desired effect. - Finishing & Protection
We apply wax or sealers where required to increase durability and enhance sheen or matte depth.

What’s the difference between Venetian Plaster and traditional paint?
Venetian Plaster is a multi-layered, hand-applied finish that mimics the appearance of natural stone and marble. Unlike paint, it has depth, movement, and texture, and can last significantly longer.
Is Venetian plaster waterproof?
Venetian plaster is water-resistant but not fully waterproof; it can only be applied above tiles in bathrooms, such as if there are 3/4 tiles on the wall. It cannot replace tiles in the bathroom, as it cannot withstand water running directly on it, such as in a shower; micro-cement is the only suitable option for shower areas. Venetian plaster is particularly suitable for bathrooms (only above the tiles) because it absorbs excess moisture from the air and slowly releases it as the humidity drops. Additionally, since Venetian plaster is made of lime, which allows walls to breathe, it has a high pH that kills bacteria and removes unpleasant odours, acting as an effective barrier against mould and odours in high-humidity areas. Where a waterproof surface is required, we recommend and use Forcrete. Forcrete is an advanced Microcement that is highly resilient and completely waterproof. Learn more about Forcrete here.
Can Venetian Plaster be repaired?
If the Venetian Plaster is damaged, the damaged area will require a physical assessment to determine if it can be patched and blended in seamlessly, or if the whole wall will need recoating.
How long does the application take?
It takes 3 days or more, depending on the size and complexity. Drying time varies between layers, but it is essential for the system not to fail.
Do you offer colour options?
All colour codes from all the paint suppliers are available and mixed in-house. If a specific colour is required, we can provide a colour-matching service; however, it will take approximately 1-2 weeks to match the colour.
